#FridayFunFact: A Look At Tumblr’s Appeal For Marketers
It’s fall and the leaves are tumbling from the trees! So we know what you’re thinking… “Should I be marketing on Tumblr?”
The decision to expand your brand’s digital presence to Tumblr is worthy of consideration. To help you understand the appeal of Tumblr’s platform, we’re sharing evidence of Tumblr’s impressive growth in this week’s Friday Fun Fact!
Tumblr is, as TechCrunch put it, a “meme-olicious, gif-tastic, photo-fabulous, (but also occasionally) thoughtful blogging platform.”
So, why do we think Tumblr is great for marketers?
For starters, Tumblr mixes elements of blogging, Facebook-esque social features, and Pinterest-style image sharing into one package, making it perfect for content marketing.
Plus — it’s growing! Tumblr’s user base increased 74% over the last year, encompassing 15% of all internet users. By September 2014, Tumblr visitors had created 205.7 million blogs and 92.7 billion posts!
The potential for engagement on this channel is also significant. On average, Tumblr users spend 14.7 minutes on the site per visit — which is 3.9 minutes more than users spend on Facebook!
By 2013, Tumblr had a revenue per visit (RPV) of $1.22, second only to Facebook. Tumblr’s year-over-year RPV growth was 380%, while its quarter-over-quarter growth was 38%. (For more on Tumblr’s high-value referral traffic, read this!)
