Content Marketing Is A Sales Enablement Goldmine. Here’s How Competitive Intelligence Can Help

At TrackMaven, we practice what we preach. We don’t just use our own platform to identify trending content topics and tactics — we also leverage our competitive insights for sales enablement. Here’s how!

Stay On Top Of Trending Topics and Innovative Content With Weekly “Best in Class” Alerts

Our Marketing and Sales teams use a weekly “Best In Class” alert to aggregate the best content posted by the brands we’ve identified as top influencers in the world of marketing. Sales uses this information to stay up-to-date on major trends and topics that are relevant to our target buyers.

Here’s an example of a “Best in Class” alert that is sent to my inbox weekly featuring the most engaging blog posts from our group of marketing influencers:

Get Notified If A Competitor’s Content Takes Off With Real-Time “Viral Content” Alerts

Marketing and Sales also set up real-time alerts to send an update anytime a brand has a piece of content that goes viral. These alerts help Sales keep abreast of new product launches, press mentions, and any major content plays or campaigns from brands in our industry.

Here’s an example of an email alert sent in real time to let me know that a piece of content has gone viral:

Ready to leverage competitor content for sales enablement? Here’s your 3-step guide to arm your Sales and Marketing teams with competitive content insights with TrackMaven:

3-Step Guide for Sales Enablement with TrackMaven

Step 1. Create a “Best in Class” alert for each of your priority channels.

Be sure to include all brands you currently compete with.* Set your threshold at 2x to start, and adjust as needed. We recommend sending once a week, on Monday - giving your team insight to top content from last week and the weekend. Alerts can also be set for “Once a day”.

Pro-Tip: Also consider also creating alerts for brands outside of your competitor set, like Influencer or Aspirational brands. Making multiple alerts will help keep your content organized.

Step 2. Set up multiple “Viral Content” alerts for each channel or brand of interest.

Test including all brands you currently compete with vs focusing on a specific brand. Set your threshold at at least 8x to start, and adjust as needed. Choose to get alerts in Real-Time so you receive updates right when content goes viral.

Step 3. Use Tagging to mark top content for Sales and Marketing.

Once you have identified specific topics or viral content, use Tags in the Activity Feed to mark trending topics or top content and share with TrackMaven users. Tags will help sales representatives and content developers quickly review trending topics across competitors or identify top performing posts to help develop new content.
